An attempt to do the right thing resulted in the evacuation, after a woman turned in two grenades at a Miami-Dade Police station on Tuesday, December 5, 2016, according to a WSVN news report.

The women reported that she was cleaning the home of a deceased family member when she discovered the grenades.  With good intention, she took the two grenades to the West Station District. She walked into the lobby, went to the public service counter, opened her purse, and took out the two grenades in an apparent attempt to turn them in.

The Miami-Dade Police Bomb Squad was summoned and began to evacuate the police station and the surrounding area.

After securing the grenades, the police department was re-opened. And the woman walked out of the police station. Officials reported that she did not know she perpetrated any wrong-doing, and perhaps unaware of the safety risks.

Later that afternoon, the grenades were detonated by the police bomb squad at the King Meadow’s Park, where 7News cameras recorded the incident.
