Brooklyn Center, MN – Authorities are investigating a police-involved shooting after officers encountered a man allegedly wielding a chainsaw during a domestic disturbance late Tuesday afternoon.
According to a statement from the Brooklyn Center Police Department, officers were dispatched around 5:45 p.m. to a residence on the 6200 block of Camden Avenue North following a 911 call reporting a violent domestic incident. Upon arrival, officers were met by an agitated man who, witnesses say, was brandishing a running chainsaw and shouting threats.
Police said the man refused repeated verbal commands to drop the weapon. As the situation escalated, officers discharged their firearms, striking the suspect. Emergency medical crews responded quickly and transported the man to a local hospital.
His condition has not been released.
No officers were injured during the incident.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) has taken over the investigation.
The name of the suspect has not yet been released pending notification of family.
