Tennessee Titans starting linebacker Avery Williamson wore his custom football cleats made to honor the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks.
The shoes are star-spangled and emblazoned with “Never Forget” and “9-11-01.”

Williamson wore the cleats at Sunday’s Titans game on September 11 against the Minnesota Vikings but was told the shoes beforehand the shoes violated the NFL’s uniform policy.
Police union leaders vowed to pay the fine and asked Williamson to wear them regardless of what the NFL said.
Williamson announced on Twitter that he would auction the cleats online, with the proceeds to be donated to Warrior Wishes.
The charity honors military members and Gold Star families.
