The Federal Reserve Bank of Miami is looking for a Lieutenant.

JOB SUMMARY
Supervises the operations of the Law Enforcement Unit. Performs administrative duties and ensures proper training and development of subordinates. Implements operational changes that will enhance Bank security. Maintains overall building security, protects Bank employees and safeguards assets contained in Federal Reserve Bank facilities. This position is an essential function of the Bank and may require extended work hours and/or work during emergency or crisis situations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Operates as a law enforcement officer pursuant to the authority given the Board of Governors by Section 11 (q) of the Federal Reserve Act. Authorized personnel act as law enforcement officers pursuant to regulations of the Board of Governors and approved by the U.S. Attorney General (Uniform Regulations for Federal Reserve Law Enforcement Officers).
2. Acts as primary backup to Chief and assumes duties in his/her absence. Maintains relationships with law enforcement and government agencies to promote cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
3. Periodically reviews and updates Procedure Manual for compliance with District Law Enforcement Unit programs and System-wide policies. Directs and supervises departmental operations to ensure compliance. Coordinates work/shift assignments and vacation schedules to ensure adequate coverage. Develops subordinates and ensures they are properly trained in department procedures. Monitors emergency contingency plans, updates emergency notification lists for Bank officers and support staff, and ensures staff is trained in handling crisis situations.
4. Prepares department budgets, monitors expenses and explains variances. Monitors Planning and Control System (PACS) reports, man-hour adjustments, and time distributions. Reviews daily reports, insures issues are addressed promptly and prepares responses on Law Enforcement Unit issues.
5. Reviews performance evaluations to ensure correct and appropriate information has been properly recorded. Recommends and in some cases administers salary increases, promotions, demotions, disciplinary actions and terminations.
6. Establishes and maintains a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity and teamwork; communicates plans, policies and procedures to staff.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years of supervisory experience within a law enforcement unit specializing in physical security or infrastructure protection (may also include military law enforcement experience).
• 2+ years experience as a Staff Sergeant within a law enforcement unit or equivalent leadership experience in physical security or infrastructure protection field may substitute for this requirement (may also include military law enforcement experience).
• Outstanding verbal communication skills at the individual and group level.
• Demonstrated experience leading a diverse workgroup across multiple shifts.
• Excellent analytical and administrative skills.

EDUCATION

• Bachelors degree in criminal science or other related fields is preferred
• Certified in defensive tactics and/or firearms general instructor roles preferred

SHIFT

Sunday – Thursday: 11:00 PM – 8:00 AM (Shift rotates)

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Will be required to provide Management coverage on any of three shifts to include weekends on a periodic basis. May be required to change/rotate shifts based on the needs of the department.
• This position is an essential function of the Bank and may require extended work hours and/or work during emergency crisis situations.
• A multi-phased assessment process will be used to select the most qualified candidate for this position.
