Receives POST Lifetime Achievement Award

Law Officer congratulates Gordon Graham who received the California POST Lifetime Achievement Award in April. POST, the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training, was established by the California Legislature in 1959 to set minimum selection and training standards for California law enforcement.

As many Law Officer readers know, Graham is an attorney and a 33-year
veteran of California law enforcement. A retired police captain, he regularly lectures at public safety training institutions, and over the past decade, Graham has spoken to more than 300,000 law enforcement and other public safety professionals from every state in the country. Graham was the first recipient of the Governor’s Award for Excellence in California Law Enforcement Training in 1995, and currently serves as a member of the National Commission on Law Enforcement Integrity. He has developed training systems and programs used by both private and public sector organizations around the world.

Graham has centered his efforts on providing knowledge to law enforcement officers in the areas of civil liability, professionalism, ethical decision making and related topics. Rather than focusing solely on after-incident damage control, he focuses on preventing mistakes through his SROVT (Solid Realistic Ongoing Verifiable Training) program.
