Concerns of Police Survivors’ (COPS) former executive director, Suzie Sawyer, celebrated her 27-year career with that organization on Saturday, May 14, during the National Police Week festivities in Washington, D.C. Fitting her big personality, her retirement party was anything but ordinary. In fact, it was a circus.
The Suzie Sawyer Circus hosted 600 guests, “and it was wild--very wild,” said Law Officer Editor-in-Chief Dale Stockton—wild enough to keep the karaoke stage going until the early morning! Proceeds went to COPS outreach activities.
Sawyer is an indelible character, and the good work she’s done to help families and agencies deal with the loss of an officer is immeasurable. If you haven’t met Sawyer, here’s a little background.
